Episode Review: Tokyo Ghoul: re Episode Three – Sasaki Haise’s Drag Race

By trying to do too much at once, this week’s episode of Tokyo Ghoul: re suffers from a lack of cohesion. Although each part of the grander puzzle is interesting on its own, the way the pieces are jammed together without fitting into their own place makes it so that it’s hard to appreciate the drips of information that are being fed to us. There has to be a way of covering this section of the story more elegantly. At least we get to see a few more familiar faces even though they don’t quite get a chance to shine.

By giving us more insight into the new key players while also bringing back some all too familiar faces, Tokyo Ghoul: re‘s second episode balances intrigue and fanservice to keep us viewers on the edge of our seats. When will Haise learn what’s really going on, and how big will the fallout be when he does?

Spring 2018 First Impressions: Tokyo Ghoul: re – Guess Who’s Back, Back Again

Two years after the events of Tokyo Ghoul the city has become a safer place for humans, with many of the resident ghouls hiding in the shadows after their war with the CCG. However, Aogiri Tree is still at large, operating under the cover of night. A new team of doves called the “Quinx”, a group of hybrid ghouls, are formed to take care of messes the rest of the CCG cannot handle. Much to their squad leader Haise Sasaki’s chagrin, the group still has a lot to learn about teamwork. While on a hunt for a ghoul called Torso who has been murdering women around the city an S-class ghoul uses the opportunity to strike. Will Sasaki be able to protect his squad without giving into his previous self and the dark and terrible power that once consumed him?
