Each adaptation has presented this all important skirmish that sets the dramatic, galaxy-spanning events of this space epic into motion in their own unique way. Unfortunately, this latest version chose to set things off with a whimper; by reducing one of Yang’s long-time friends, who is a key source of his initial character development, to a twenty-second cameo, Die Neue These rids itself of a key opportunity to get the viewers invested in one of its main protagonists.

Manga Monday – New and Notable 02/04/18 – 08/04/18
Although there haven’t been as many brand new offerings this week, there have still been plenty of exciting manga released. The likes of Princess Jellyfish, My Hero Academia and The Promised Neverland all had new volumes out, along with many others. With all the new anime that’s coming out I had kind of hoped for a quieter release week, but no… it turns out that they’re trying to kill me after all.

But when a teleporting metallic egg bursts into his home containing a girl named Hina who quickly destroys his collection with her psychokinetic powers, he is powerless to do anything about it in case she destroys him next! Before he quite knows what is happening he finds himself looking after Hina, making her meals, buying her clothes and toys, and even enrolling her in a local school so long as she promises not to use her powers on him. Unfortunately her powers cannot be so easily contained: one day after holding them in for too long she destroys his apartment. Lucky for him he has an outlet for her; his boss has asked him to clear some land for development and Hina is the perfect partner to make that happen. But when Nitta is ordered to perform a hit on a rival yakuza boss he finds that Hina is all too willing to help with that too.
